Where it started
A spool-price calculation misses much of the cost of an order. A partly filled final plate, a failed print or time spent finishing the pieces can change the estimate.
What took shape
BatchQuote brings those inputs into one local calculator with saved jobs and an order-price estimate. The prototype records its assumptions, including whole plates and margin rather than markup.
What the work revealed
A useful estimate needs visible assumptions. The current model also has limits: it does not solve every mixed-item or mixed-plate production job.
